First off, we had our biggest Winter Series event yesterday with 60 guys making it out to play in the Individual Stroke Play flighted competition. Thanks to everyone who made out to compete yesterday. Also, a big thank you to John Landers for setting up and organizing the competition. Back in the fall of last year your Men’s Club President, Russ Veenema, brought forward the idea of offering anyone interested the opportunity to get involved with creating and organizing (learning golf genius) daily Men’s Club competitions and John Landers is one of the first to step forward. Thanks again Landers.
With 60 players were able to divide the competition into four flights. Starting with flight 4, Ray Ballantyne would have run away with all of it if we allowed that, but we will honor his score of 78 for 1st place gross. Somehow, he managed to shoot even par on the front nine with birdies on hole #2 and #9! On the other side, Craig Turrentine shot his handicap and took low net for flight 4. For Flight 3 it was David Forhan with hot hands and fired off a 4 over par 76 for low gross honors. Bill Schless shot 2 under his handicap to capture the low net honors for Flight 3. Richard Clendening also had a nice round of 74 to take 1st place gross for Flight 2. On the net side, Mike Buckland won the scorecard playoff over Marcus Coventon to win 1st place net. Moving to the 1st flight we had yet another great round from Robert Bourns with 3 under par 69! On the net side if was Brian Early with a net 71 after giving back 2 shots he managed to win net.
