Meeting was called to order by President Bill Berry at 2:00 pm
Present were Bill Berry – President, Jim Jaqubino – Secretary/Historian, Richard Clendening – Competition Chairman, Steve Collatz – Treasurer, Ron Grant – Handicap Chairman, Don Flores – Wa Golf Representative
Absent but available by phone were Justin Ewing – Vice President, Harry Phillips – Rules Chairman
Guest: Garrett Smithson, Head Professional and Director of Group Sales.
Garrett wanted to remind the membership that the course will be closed September 30, October 1st and October 2nd for aerification and course repairs and renovation of cart path on hole #17. He also expressed his desire to get more members interested in participating in Home and Home events going forward. In some cases, this is an opportunity to play courses we otherwise might not be able to play.
Bill Berry has agreed to take over duties of Team Captain and reiterated that he will stay on as President of the Men’s Club for the duration of his term. Thank you, Bill, for all you do.
There are several positions up for renewal and possibly available for members to become a part of the Board of Directors. More information will be available soon. Check the website and the bulletin board for more information.
Congratulations to Cary Richardson for a hole in one on hole 17 on September 9.
IMPORTANT: Beginning in 2025, all Men’s Club memberships will be renewed through a program called “Member Planet” online. If you do not have access to the internet the pro shop will help you to get renewed. More information will be posted soon on the bulletin board and on the Members website. No more payments will be accepted in the pro shop as has always been done in the past. Approved by the Board and seconded unanimously.
Treasurer Steve Collatz reported current membership at 189 members vs 201 at this time last year. Bank balance of $3043.00. August expenses of $400 for the Club Championship, Washington golf $351.00. 9 dues at $39.00 each. $300 for the fall Cedars Cup, $27.23 to Peninsula Awards for the Club Championship plaque plates. Anticipated September expenses, $28.31 to Peninsula Awards for the Presidents cup plaque plates. Thank you, Steve, for agreeing to stay on as Treasurer for another year. Your services are invaluable.
Washington Golf Rep Don Flores wants to recognize new members on the web site and requested contact information for that purpose.
The upcoming Memorial Tournament will be the last event of the season that Richard Clendening will be coordinating the posting and standings through Email. The event will take place on October 16th. This year we will be sponsoring and taking donations for the Sequim Boys High School golf program. We will be buying golf bags for all members of the team.
Fred Green, Assistant Professional, will be coordinating weekly men’s club events during the non- posting off season.
Information about the upcoming Annual Meeting will be posted soon.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:07 pm
After a particularly poor round, a golfer spotted a lake as he walked despondently up the 18th. He looked at his caddie and said, “I’ve played so badly all day, I think I’m going to drown myself in that lake.” The caddie, quick as a flash, replied, ”I’m not sure you could keep your head down that long.”
